Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired blue-eyed, blonde-haired woman with an exuberant personality. She was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra to Susan (Duggan), she was an English teacher, and one-time actor. Harry Hyra was a math teacher. She is of Ruthenian, Polish, Irish and German heritage ("Hyra" is an Irish and Ruthenian surname, while "Ryan" is the maiden name of her maternal grandmother). Meg has graduated from Bethel High School, Bethel in May 1979. After moving to New York, she attended New York University where she majored in journalism. To make extra money while completing her studies, Meg went into acting with her new name Meg Ryan. Her debut on screen came in 1981, making a brief appearance as Candice Bergen's daughter in George Cukor’s final film Rich and Famous (1981). She was chosen for the character as Betsy in the soap opera As the World Turns (1956) after she had a go at. She was in the cast from 1982 until 1984. Meg was also a character in the TV show One of the Boys (1982), however, this show was eventually put on hold. In 1984, Meg relocated to Hollywood and was offered a position with the western TV series Wildside (1985). Meg's tiny role in the blockbuster film Top Gun (1986) led to her being included in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) where she co-starred alongside Dennis Quaid. In the remake of D.O.A., she starred again with Quaid. (1988) The two were married on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. Meg appeared in 1989's When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and the scene in the restaurant became famous. Meg was twice nominated for the Golden Globe and BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. Also, she was part of the hugely successful Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and received nominations for the Golden Globe. Meg took a stand against the established norms in 1994 when she portrayed the role of Meg's alcoholic wife and mother "When a Man Loves a Woman" (1994). Following that, Meg returned to her "cute" I.Q. (1994) and French Kiss (1995). In 1994, Meg was awarded the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award as "Woman of the Year" and was voted as being one of "The 50 most beautiful people in the world in 1994" by People Magazine.
