Beyoncé Giselle Knowles
Beyonce Giselle Knowles was born on
September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas. Tina Knowles, her mom is the one who
designs the glittery costumes, as does Mathew Knowles, Destiny's child's
manager. Solange, her sister (4 years separated by four years) released her
first album. She performs with her sister at DC-3 concerts. Beyonce is from
Louisiana Creole and African descent. Whitney Houston found her and her band.
Lovefool from The Cardigans, is her most listened to track. Her most coveted
piece of clothing is a pair of metallic work boots. She is the creator and
producer of many of the group's popular songs, such as "Jumpin
Jumpin", “Bootylicious" Nasty Girls", "Independent
Women", and "Happy Face". She is the main singer of Destiny's
Child. Toured with Christina Aguilera as her opening act (2000). Also, she
toured together with TLC as their opening act (1999). Master P was a cat. He
was a student at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston,
Texas. Solange is Nixon and Koi Knowles her older half-sister. The two appeared
on Star Search (1983). She was the first African-American woman ever to receive
the ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year Award in 2001. She is a big fan of Middle
Eastern music and dance. Her greatest hit track is "Crazy in Love",
(2003). Her performances on awards shows include the Radio Music Awards, MTV
Europe Video Music Awards, and Billboard Awards. She also appeared at the South
African AIDS benefit show in November of 2003, which was put on by Bono of U2
to combat the AIDS epidemic in sub-Saharan African countries. (February 8th,
2004) She was awarded five Grammy Awards, including Best Contemporary
R&B Album for "Dangerously in Love" The singer took home the
most awards from this year's (2004) show. Mathew is her father. Tina is of
Louisiana Creole descent. Her ancestors were mostly African and French and also
have ancestors in Louisiana and Canada. Beyonce is 1/32 Irish and has distant
Breton as well as Spanish, Indonesian and Chinese roots. According to some, she
created a stage character called "Sasha" in order to conquer her
shyness.
