Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born to British parents Jacqueline Luesby, a lawyer as well as Chris Watson, a teacher from Paris, France. At the age of five, she moved to Oxfordshire and was a student at the Dragon School. As early as the age of six, Emma was aware that she would like to become an actress and, for a number of years, she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre academy where she learned about dancing, singing and acting. When she was ten Emma was already participating acting in Stagecoach productions and school productions. The casting process began with Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (192001), the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents through her Oxford theatre instructor. After eight consistent auditions David Heyman revealed to Emma and Rupert Grint (other applicants), that they had been selected to play Hermione Gringer, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the screen was when the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film broke records for opening-day ticket sales and opening week-end takers and was the top-grossing movie of 2001. The film's performance and that of its three young stars were well-received by reviewers. The widely distributed British newspaper, 'The Daily Telegraph' described her performance as "admirable". Emma won the Young Artist Award as Leading Young Actress in the Film Film as well as being nominated for five awards. Following the debut film in the highly successful series, Emma became one of the most well-known actresses in the world. She continued to portray the character of Hermione Granger for a total of 10 years in all of the following Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma has been nominated twice for Critics Choice Awards by the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
